Childproofing a home can be overwhelming...if you let it. The truth is, your kids and your common sense will let you know in hurry what you need. Most people think all they need to do is slap up a cheap baby gate and they're ready to roll...... of course we're not sure these people have ever been around children....... We recommend printing our home checklist. Not everything on the list will apply to your situation, but it's a great way to get you thinking. You can get the checklist here. Also, keep an eye on our Videos page. We'll be showcasing some of the most commonly used items in childproofing, and demonstrating how they are installed, as well as how they work. These videos will take the guess work out of picking your products..and they're free to watch--as many times as you want.
Yes, you can! Most of the tools needed to install our childproofing products are very basic. Borrow a screwdriver and a drill from your neighbor, scavenge a measuring tape from the junk drawer, and you're ready to go!
You must only use "hard mount" style baby safety gates. These baby gates are actually screwed into a wall stud or banister to create a very strong mount. Any other baby gate will simply not work. If other types of baby gates are used, there is a great risk of falling and injury. Here's how Michelle remembers the rule: From stairs, do not fall! Hard Mount to the wall! We have a easy to understand guideline to buying baby safety gates in our store.
We carry 3 different types of childproofing sliding safety plates for electrical outlets: -One type for standard outlets with 2 prongs(no middle hole--old style) -One type for standard outlets with 3 prongs(with middle hole--newer style) -One type for decorator outlets (2 screws-one at the top and bottom of the plug) with 3 prongs (more of a rectangular shape).
